Continental Marines in the Revolutionary War

The Fort Dorchester Chapter of the South Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution extends its heartfelt thanks to LtCol. Ed Forte, USMC (Ret.), for his outstanding presentation on the Continental Marines during the Revolutionary War at our chapter meeting on February 19, 2026. His engaging and well-researched talk illuminated the critical role these early Marines played in the fight for independence—from their establishment by the Continental Congress in 1775 to their amphibious operations, shipboard duties, and contributions on land alongside Continental Army forces.

LtCol. Forte’s expertise, drawn from his distinguished Marine Corps career and deep historical knowledge, brought this vital chapter of American and Marine Corps history to life for our members, enriching our understanding of the Patriots we honor.

We are grateful for his time, passion, and dedication to preserving the legacy of the Revolution, and we look forward to future opportunities to learn from him. Semper Fi, and thank you, LtCol. Forte!
